All I need to know I learned in Kindergarten . . .

All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at school. These are the things I learned:
Share everything. Play fair. Don't hit people. Put things back where you found them. Clean up your own mess. Don't take things that aren't yours. Say you're sorry when you hurt someone. Wash your hands before you eat. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for the soul. Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day. Take a nap every afternoon. When you go out in the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together.
As I held up the camera to take this picture I got choked up. Right there in that moment I realized that this will be the picture that gets pulled out and displayed at their high school graduation. And I can only hope that through the next 13 years and always, they will hold hands and stick together!

Monday was the big day . . . Kindergarten! Connor and Megan started school at Shawnee Early Childhood Center in Lakota school district with Miss Morgan. They were most excited about the bus and Mommy was the most nervous (turns out for good reason since they got dropped off at the wrong stop . . . thank goodness a neighbor put them back on and told the bus driver!). So now we have a new bus stop that is a bit of a walk, and after too much complaining (from Mommy), I realized I need to see the positive in the situation. The weather is beautiful and I don't know if there could possibly be a better feeling than watching 2 curious 5-year-olds skip and run to the bus with bouncing backpacks. They are so full of energy and life and so proud of their new-found independence. Therefore I resolve to have a good attitude since I am blessed to have healthy, happy children who can run, skip and jump their way through life!

I'm crying too, because I am picturing the way I will feel when James and Lucy start school! It's so cute that they were so excited!
